For finding trails, AllTrails and Wikiloc have the most user-recorded routes; Waymarked Trails shows officially signed routes.
For judging terrain, use a topographic map: national agency maps where available, OpenTopoMap or CalTopo elsewhere. Slope-angle layers are essential in avalanche terrain.
Phones fail. Download offline maps, carry a paper map in remote areas, and check avalanche and weather forecasts before you go.
